I did a thing …

After 33 years of dedication to the biopharmaceutical industry, with the last 11 at Labcorp Drug Development, I am embarking on a career sabbatical to fulfill a lifelong dream to hike the entire Appalachian Trail.

The Appalachian Trail is the longest hiking-only footpath in the world, measuring 2200 miles (3500 km) along the East Coast of the United States.

My last day with Labcorp will be Good Friday, April 7, 2023.

Two days later on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023, I will start my adventure in Springer Mountain, Georgia.

Over the course of six months, I will walk through 14 states, ending on the peak of Mount Katahdin in central Maine in mid-October.

Everything I need to survive will be carried in my 30 pound (13.5 kilo) backpack: tent, sleeping bag, mattress, rain gear, cold gear, cooking gear, food, safety gear – and of course my journal where I will capture all of the memories made along the way.

Dream big. Go boldly. This is life!!
