A Walk in the Woods is cute movie about an author returning to US from 20 years overseas (Robert Redford) and his college friend & recovering alcoholic (Nick Nolte) who embark on the AT, also starting on Springer Mountain, Georgia. It’s based on a book with the same title. Spoiler alert: They didn’t make it all the way. 75% of the 3000 people who start each year never finish! Watch A Walk In The Woods | Prime Video (amazon.com)
While Wild is set on the Pacific Crest Trail, not the Appalachian Trail, I identify a lot with Reese Witherspoon’s character. My favorite scene is of her trying on lipstick in one of the small trail towns, only to find herself getting a hygiene lecture from one of the sales ladies. Uh-oh … this will be me! https://watch.amazon.com/detail?gti=amzn1.dv.gti.f8a9f782-a3b0-7e4c-6d04-9901b4c80f8b&territory=US&ref_=share_ios_movie&r=web
